Although the capital of Bulgaria is Sofia, for many the true capital of Plovdiv, at least culturally. It is located just over an hour by car on highway. And is that many still feel nostalgic this important geographical location between western and eastern Europe is the most important town in Bulgaria, as it was during the Ottoman occupation since the fourteenth century until the late eighteenth century.

Plovdiv, the regional capital of the same name and with a population that is less than 400,000 inhabitants, is one of the oldest cities that are still populated, it is considered contemporary with Mycenae and Troy, so his age could reach in six or seven centuries before Christ. In the plain of Thrace region, along the Maritsa river, gone are the Romans, who named Trimontim, or the Greeks, who knew as Philipopolis, among many other civilizations, such as the Slavic or Turkish.

The highlight of the city is, without doubt, the old town. In this area lived the aristocracy of the country during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, who raised an impressive mansions.
